My next interview is with a band that I feel have a lot of potential and have some awesome songs in their arsenal.
I was lucky enough to get an interview with the band's front man Jimmy Campbell. With the band now touring Maryland and Virginia, their army of fans is growing daily and the band is going from strength to strength, despite the loss of guitarist Andrew.
Here is my Interview with "Fall Away":-
Banxy : Where did the name "Fall Away" come from?
Jimmy : The name came from When Brian, Jon, and Andrew left their old band they were in. They were tired of the B.S. that was going on, so they kinda fell away from the band. They wanted to go in a different direction.
Banxy : How did you guys meet?
Jimmy : Brian And I have been friends for about 20 years - we grew up together. Jon and Andrew are brothers and they were introduced to Brian in another band about 4 years ago. Then they parted ways with that singer and brought me in.

Banxy : All of the band members work full time jobs also - Do you find this a hindrance or a source of material for lyrics and keeping the band grounded?
Jimmy : Yes we do all have full time jobs - well except for Jesse - he does not have a Job. We really don't have a problem writing songs. But I guess it helps more then anything because we get to see how the real world works!
Banxy : Recently Guitarist Andrew split from the band and was replaced by Jesse Wadsworth, a difficult time for a band but sometimes a strengthening point - take the Red Hot Chili Peppers for example. How do you feel this will affect "Fall Away" in the future?
Jimmy : We support Andrew in his decision to part ways. He was not happy. His heart was no longer in it. But I would say it has helped us grow stronger now, looking back at the situation. It was a little hard and we wish Andrew well in whatever he decides to go after in life. The songs have changed, but it is still Fall Away and we still play the older songs as well. |
Banxy : If you could collaborate with any band or musician, who would it be and why?
Jimmy : Well we would love to work with someone like Staind, Incubus, Breaking Benjamin, but there are so many we would love to play with. Or work with. But those are a few names.
Banxy : "Fall Away" has often been compared to "Creed" how do you feel about this comparison?
Jimmy : Well they got the job done and made it big, so I guess we are doing something right. But I think we have changed a lot. Our early stuff is similar, we have many influences, but we will definetely take it as a complement.
Banxy : If you could choose 1 thing to "Fall away" what would it be? (Be gentle)
Jimmy: Bills, hate, bad remakes of old horror films and non-alcoholic beer!
Banxy : If you could snap forward 5 years, where would you like to see the band?
Jimmy: Playing shows all over the world and still loving what we're doing.

Banxy : What's the funniest or strangest thing that has happened to the band on tour?
Jimmy : There are a lot of crazy things that have happened. I think the the best moment was just this past weekend - We had a show in Virginia. A place called the Laughing Lizzard. Well we are playing our last song, Everything is normal, having a good time... About 50 people show up that are in a wedding party from New Zealand???
They would not let us off the stage. We played our set three times! It was great. Everytime we said "this is our last song" they would start yelling for two more songs. It was a great feeling. Another time was when we Played at Griffins in MD. Our friend Pudd asked his Girlfriend to marry him on stage in the middle of one of our sets. It was an honour to be a part of that!
Banxy : Do you have any upcoming or recently released albums/tours you would like to tell us about? Or any other news?
Jimmy : Well We have a CD out right now called "For You". You can order it off of our Myspace page or at any of our shows. We are about to start pre-production on our new CD this Thursday. So more fun in the studio, so keep an ear out for it. It's gonna rock!
